A highly effective and easy-to-use equipment,
During a two-month period, I experimented, in succession, with four different types of spincast rod and reel combos, but could not achieve a satisfactory result. However, after perusing several reviews on various spincast rod and reel combos, I made a definitive selection: the ZEBCO 808 MEDIUM HEAVY SPINCAST ROD & REEL COMBO. It is absolutely fantastic. Even as a novice at fishing (two months of experience), I used my ZEBCO 808 Combo at my first attempt, and caught 15 channel catfishes, my largest catch ever, at the local lake. My subsequent fishing trips with my ZEBCO 808 Spincast Combo have been equally successful. In fact, I am so pleased with this equipment, that I intend to purchase one or two more as spares.

|Gets the job done,
I hate to admit it but I basically quit fishing when I entered Military Service back in ’86. Now after 20 years there and three more years back out working as a civilian again, I decided that I needed to get back to fishing. It’s been a long time but I knew I could not go wrong with Zebco as a starting point with no current knowledge of the market so I got a light Zebco rod and this medium-heavy one and neither disappointed me.
This rod has great feel and depending on what you’re casting, outstanding distance. It cranks smoothly and quietly. If you’re using a float you can just make your cast and flip a switch and if anything hits it you get a very audible “drag” sounding alarm from the internal mechanism so even if you dose off, you still have a good chance of bringing that fish in. It comes pre-spooled so you just need to affix the reel release line and add bait and you’re ready to go. A great rod for any collection.

Hurricane Ike with it’s 8′ tidal surge wiped out our fishing gear…this is my second purchase on this product to start re-stocking! I know it’s not the best on the market, but it catches those remaining trout and croakers just like the more expensive ones. And just in time for flounder fishing! All I need now is a cast net since most of the bait houses are destroyed! Please keep Galveston County in your prayers as Hurricane Ike truly devastated most of it.
